I have been able to visualize the dust and dirt spots with a simple shot of the blue sky at, say f/22 with focus at infinity, do a general cleaning and then target specific areas of the sensor for the more detailed process of cleaning laid out in the Visible Dust approach. I use products from Visible Dust and they work very well. HDR capture I often use ability of my cameras to create multiple exposures of a scene. If I take 5 shots at varying focus ranges and then combine all these we're looking at about a 10 gig image on my 5DMKII. I like experimenting with panoramas and have been creating HDR'd pano's in PTgui, I can only imagine the amount of images required if I start doing Helicon Focusing as well.įor instance a recent Pano/HDR took 90 RAW files.

Being stuck with a dirty sensor on my 5DMKII an after spending good money getting a camera shop to make it worse I started wondering whether Helicon Focus software might be my miracle cure.Īs images taken at fast apertures don't show up the dust spots nearly so much I'm thinking I could use this software to ensure I have my depth of field without shooting at say F16.
